Not everyone's enthusing about a free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union.

Specialty cheesemakers are worried that an FTA will flood the NZ market with cheaper cheese. Unlike EU cheesemakers, ours pay the global rate for the raw products, preventing them from competing with EU cheesemakers on price or cost of production. A look around our supermarket cheese shelves shows NZ specialty cheeses cost more than European imports.
