OPINION: And just like that, Fieldays is done for the year! That’s what Fieldays announced in a media release at the end of the four-day event.

However, there was no mention of the total number of people who attended the show.

Media reports put the number at 75,000, compared to the 2017 event where a record 133,588 people went through the gates.

By all accounts, the event was smaller thanks to resurgent Covid, bad weather, logistical issues facing exhibitors and sheer timing of the event, which didn’t suit farmers or contractors.

When the National Fieldays Society does it all over again in six months, they will be hoping for better numbers and a return to normal.
