Semi-robotic milking technology to boost parlour efficiency
Waikato Milking Systems’ latest innovation, ErgoPOD is now commercially available within New Zealand and Australia.
Waikato Milking Systems is buying one of New Zealand's leading dairy effluent management solutions companies, Hi-Tech Enviro Solutions.
Previously owned by an Auckland based private investor, Hi-Tech Enviro Solutions was established in 1992 and is one of the leading accredited designers and suppliers of modern dairy effluent management solutions in New Zealand.
Announcing the acquisition, Dean Bell, Waikato Milking Systems' chief executive said he is delighted to formally partner with a company of the calibre of Hi-Tech Enviro Solutions.
"This is a superb company with philosophies and values which match our own. They are one of the few accredited designers and suppliers of dairy effluent systems in the country with a skilled team which has a deep appreciation of effluent regulatory requirements. They understand the need for farmers to have well designed units that are robust, efficient and simple to operate – brand values that match those of Waikato Milking Systems.
"The partnership is a natural extension for both businesses taking us into the realm of offering a total solution to dairy farmers. We are confident our combined research and development expertise will enable exciting innovations which will further support sustainable dairy farming."
Brian Nicholson, the general manager of Hi-Tech Enviro Solutions said the synergies between the two companies are clear.
"We share a passion for being the first choice supplier of go-ahead dairy farmers, generating better outcomes for farmers and the industry as a whole."
Waikato Milking Systems is owned by two of the country's largest iwi through Tainui Group Holdings and Ngai Tahu Holdings, and private equity firm, Pioneer Capital.
"Our board's vision is to expand the operating base through partnerships and acquisitions and the acquisition of Hi-Tech Enviro Solutions demonstrates that commitment," Bell said.
The acquisition takes effect in late October and the two businesses will work autonomously as 'sister companies' from their respective Waikato bases.
