Gone to blazers!

The Hound notes this very special year for the Society Fieldays: celebrating the event’s 50th birthday.

However, as usual, all its officials were not decked out in their birthday suits – the ubiquitous green blazers. A mate of yours truly reckoned the former green-blazer brigade looked ready to go to Augusta National for the Masters golf; or perhaps Disneyland, where the boss recently spent time, presumably seeking to raise the infotainment component of Fieldays. It’s a good thing the green jackets are gone because for some people those blazers were a potent symbol of power: estimates were that a green blazer could boost the ego and power of an individual wearer by about 100%.
