Farmers are bracing for a major animal rights campaign against their winter grazing practices.
While children’s book character Willy Wonka provided some inspiration for the competition, the five farmers who strike gold will win $2000 each - not a lifetime supply of chocolate.
It was announced today week at Fieldays that CRV Ambreed will insert five golden straws into five AI units - three in the North Island and two in the South Island as distribution of semen straws begins next month ahead of Spring mating.
CRV Ambreed Sales and Marketing Manager Oceania, Jon Lee, says the promotion is part of CRV Ambreed’s Golden Anniversary celebrations recognising the breeding company’s 50th year of proven performance.
“Mating is a busy time of year for farmers and their staff, and they have a lot riding on their AI,” says Lee. “We hope this contest will help create a bit of excitement and anticipation in the cow shed.
“We value the loyalty of our customers and are always delighted with the amazing feedback we receive from farmers when their CRV progeny enter the milking herd.
“This competition is a small way we can show our gratitude to them and have a little fun at the same time.”
All farmers with genetics orders received by the July 31 2019, for spring mating dispatch, are automatically entered into the draw to win. Entries can be boosted by registering online.
The winners will be responsible for notifying CRV Ambreed of their Golden Straw discovery and present their find prior to the 30th November 2019. Visit www.crv4all.co.nz for full terms and conditions.
