Off-roader from elsewhere

Written by  Mark Daniel

For people looking for an off-road vehicle for their agriculture or a lifestyle property, the Kymco range of quads and side-by-side vehicles is an alternative to the mainstream products.

The range includes three quads, all with a durable and easy-to-use CVT drive system.

The MXU300 is an economically priced two-wheel drive quad powered by a quiet and efficient liquid cooled engine. It’s said to be tailor-made for following cows on a dairy unit or for general farm transportation; its hi/lo ratio gearbox enables it to perform well in hard going.

The larger MXU400 and MXU500 models offer a more powerful four-wheel drive option, coupled with hi/lo ratio and equipped with downhill braking.

All models have independent rear suspension for a comfortable ride and to help inspire confidence in safe operation in tough terrain.

To cater for the rapidly growing side-by-side sector, Kymco offers three new models to serve all the major market sectors.

The UXV700i LE EPS tops the range, boasting a powerful EFI liquid cooled engine.

Add to this power steering, a smooth CVT transmission and downhill braking capability, making this model an accomplished farm vehicle.

Standard equipment includes alloy wheels and a factory fitted winch.

The UXV450i and UXV450i Turf models offer a more compact machine said to be surprisingly nimble given the smaller engine size.

The bench seat, digital dash and good towing capacity should be a good fit when power is not an important requirement.

Turf models have turf tyres and an unlocking rear differential to allow tighter turns and more gentle operation, a must in turf management, tourism, construction and local body work.

All Kymco side-by-side models are available with a New Zealand-made roof, glass screen and wiper options.
