Case IH Farmall C Upgrade: More power, weight & precision

Farmall C range is appreciated for its flexibility in handling a broad range of tasks.

The Case IH Farmall C, well known across New Zealand, has just seen an upgrade including a new look, increased weight and hydraulic power, and a cab overhaul.

“Farmers operating the Farmall C have appreciated its flexibility in handling a broad range of tasks, thanks to its heavy-duty, yet manoeuvrable frame, quality build and impressive torque,” said Mark Crakanthorp, Case IH ANZ product manager, for small tractors.

The new series, currently available to order, offers upgrades that include a new striking and aggressive look, featuring LEDs, cab improvements including cab suspension and a new digital dashboard layout, alongside an increase in gross vehicle weight.

Gross vehicle mass (GVM) increases, alongside larger 540-65R 38 tyres, delivering a larger footprint, complemented with an upgraded powertrain. That powertrain includes user-friendly shifting and shuttle operation for efficient operation, while the ActiveClutch (brake-to-clutch) feature allows the operator to use the brake pedal to stop or slow the tractor without using the clutch pedal, and resume motion by releasing it.

Available in Farmall 100C and 120C variants, hydraulic power is increased to 82l/min output, with a mid-mount valve joystick layout. Meanwhile, gear-lever mounted multi-controller is also newly available as an option on the Farmall C series, allowing for precise operator functionality, with control of power shifting and power shuttling at the operator’s fingertips.

Full precision farming and telematics options are, for the first time, available fully integrated from the factory.

Case IH Wins EIMA Award for Optum Suspension System

With the biannual Italian EIMA machinery Expo less than a month away, Case IH has taken out a Technical Evolution award for the Advanced Vehicle Suspension system available on its Optum 360–440 series tractors.

The Advanced Vehicle Suspension system, available on Optum 360, 390, and 440 models, responds to changing conditions, automatically adjusting how the suspension reacts to absorbs shocks and controlling vehicle movement.

In operation, sensors monitor the vibrations transmitted from the tractor chassis to the operator cabin, allowing the system to adjust suspension damping in real time. The control system incorporates key priorities, such as comfort at lower speeds and stability as speed increases, while also reacting to factors such as lower tyre pressures, where the tyres absorb more of the initial shock.

Case IH said as suspension requirements change throughout the working day, as tractors move between the paddock and road transport, the system manages suspension response in the background as tasks, speeds and conditions change, leaving the operator without the need to make manual adjustments.

Richard Hollins, Optum series tractors global product manager, said: “Pioneering technology must earn its place in the working day. Organised by FederUnacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation, the contest has been part of EIMA since 1986, with the Technical Evolution distinction awarded to products that introduce original improvements to solutions already manufactured or patented.
