Fears are growing that Ukraine may lose 150,000 cows - one-third of its national herd - if the war with Russia does not stop by the end of this year.
Amid the ongoing hostilities, analysts estimate about 50,000 cows have already been lost, by either being bombed, shot or having succumbed to disease.
Due to communicatin problems, it is difficult to estimate exact numbers of livestock losses, especially as small, private dairy farms have also suffered badly.
Meanwhile, concerns are growing that milk products destined for export from Ukraine to Asia and Africa will deteriorate if they are left accumulating in warehouses for much longer.
