Gunning for Fendt

Written by

Baseball caps, overalls and jackets are a familiar aspect of aftermarket promotion. But Fendt has taken an interesting step further.

JP Sauer and Sohn, reputedly Germany’s oldest gunsmith, has made the company a rifle -- the S04 Fendt 1050 Vario – to draw attention to the brand’s flagship high horsepower tractor.

But sorry, Fendt fans, you won’t be able to buy one because there’s only one.  Yep, it’s a one-off which will, in time, be auctioned to benefit the German Hunting Association.

The rifle’s lines echo the lines of the tractor’s massive hood, its hand-made rubber grip inlays mimic the tractor tyres and the bolt mechanism is styled after the tractor’s perforated exhaust pipe shield.  Tiny indentations adorn the weapon and its finish is black DLC (diamond like carbon). The barrel has a fluted finish, nickel plated sight bases and a chrome plated muzzle thread protector.
