Meat co-op dilemma
Meat processor Alliance Group's cash-strapped farmer shareholders face a dilemma - either pour more money into the co-operative or risk losing 100% ownership and control.
Meat cooperative Alliance is urging farmers to attend one of its 20 road-show events across the country in October.
Farmer-shareholders and suppliers will hear from management and directors about the performance of the cooperative at the annual road-show, which begins in Masterton on 2nd October. They will also receive an update on the progress of Alliance’s strategy and prospects for the new season.
“This is a good opportunity to hear first-hand the latest news and plans for the cooperative and ask our team questions,” said David Surveyor, chief executive of Alliance.
“We can also offer insights into some of the new initiatives we have underway here in New Zealand and across our global markets.”
The cooperative is encouraging farmers to bring along any friends who are interested in finding out more about becoming an Alliance supplier, he says.
“I do know it is a busy time for farmers, but I encourage shareholders to attend a road-show event in their area.”
The road-show finishes in Fortrose, Southland, on 19th October.
Meanwhile, Alliance will announce its annual results slightly later this year- late November, says Surveyor.
