OPINION: The world's first floating dairy farm, once hailed as a vision of farming's future, is up for sale after seven years.

Situated at the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, its owners say outdated regulations, environmental bureaucracy and the loss of their Rotterdam site have left them with no option but to sell the farm and its cows.

The project even featured on Clarkson's Farm, with Jeremy Clarkson describing it as an example of why farming must modernise.

So, irony of ironies, the environmental bureaucracy has taken down a world-first project that was designed to save the environment.
