The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has placed controls on the movement of whole fresh fruit and vegetables within a specified 1.5km radius around Wolverton Rd in Avondale, Auckland following a find of a single male Queensland fruit fly in the area.

Rural residents with unwanted agricultural chemicals or other hazardous waste are being encouraged by Auckland Council to sign-up for an onsite collection this month.
