A VERY mixed season around the country has posed a range of  challenges to dairy farmers according to DairyNZ’s Craig McBeth.

CALVING HAS gone well and production and mating are on track throughout the country, says Craig McBeth, DairyNZ’s general manager extension. 

 “So attention to detail in the core drivers of farming systems is working for farmers,” he told Dairy News. 

DairyNZ is issuing summer dry messages to farmers and advising farmers to look after young stock.

Unusually good pasture growth has given some dairy farmers an unexpected challenge – too much long grass for this time of year.
