Dairy prices have taken a plunge once again, with the dairy price index dropping 10.7% to USD$2,082 MT at last night’s Global Dairy Trade auction.
The Global Dairy Auction suffered its sixth successive fall last night with the average price index dropping 4.3% to US $2,412/MT.
More bad news for dairy farmers as the latest Global Dairy Trade auction saw the average price index slip by 2.2% to $2,472.
Last night's Global Dairy Trade auction saw the average price index fall for the fourth consecutive time, dropping 3.5% to US$2,515.
Despite last week’s drop in this season’s expected milk payout by both Fonterra and Westland there are positive – albeit slow – signs about the future outlook for dairy prices.
On the back of declining international milk prices Westland Milk Products has reduced its predicted payout for the 2014-15 season.
