Weak supply keeping prices high
Weaker milk production in the Northern Hemisphere is keeping dairy prices high.
Dairy prices rose again overnight with an increase of 9.4% in the Global Dairy Trade auction.
The result was mostly due to an increase in the whole milk powder price, which was up 19.2% with an average price of US$2,874 per tonne.
It is the fourth consecutive increase in GDT's trade weighted index.
The auction was the first since Fonterra reduced its milk volume forecast last week.
