Deal attracts support

Written by

Most shareholders are speaking in support of Silver Fern farms' deal with Chinese company Shanghai Maling.

At least six shareholders spoke in favour of the deal; only one spoke against at its annual meeting in Dunedin today.

Shareholders welcome the extra capital that Shanghai Maling will inject into the company; it will put $261 million in return for a 50% stake in the co-op.

Shareholders are expected to back the deal.
