Drunk on power!

Written by  The Hound

OPINION: The end-of-year booze-up at the posh Northern Club in Auckland must have been a beauty, as the legal 'elite' let their hair down and showed us how entitled and political some in the judiciary really are.

A district court judge and her boyfriend were forced to apologies for "verbally attacking" Winston Peters and other NZ First members at a party.

Judge Ema Aitken and Labour-aligned health specialist David Galler were on the vino with other judges at the exclusive Club when they gate-crashed a private function.

It's alleged Aitken tried to enter the room and shouted at the Deputy PM: "He's lying! How can you let him say that?" Galler arrived soon after and reportedly "blocked [Peters] exit" and told him the government was doing a "shit job".

So much for impartiality and comity!

Too political!

OPINION: After seven years of Adrian Orr’s antics as Reserve Bank NZ governor, the priority of his successor, Anna Breman, surely is rebuilding the tarnished reputation of the RBNZ, not stepping on the Foreign Minister’s toes by commenting on US domestic politics.

Winston's fury

OPINION: When it comes to New Zealand's foreign relations, Foreign Minister Winston Peters likes to make all the big calls; remember the sacking of Phil Goff as the Ambassador to London?

Famous last words

OPINION: With Winston Peters playing politics with the PM's Indian FTA, all eyes will be on Labour who have the casting vote.
